Help

E-Flock is an online portal designed to support your learning journey with Lingo Flamingo and allow you to join a community of students.

Courses

If you are taking a course with Lingo Flamingo, you may be able to access a virtual course on this website with additional resources, exercises and games that will complement your learning.

Please note that not all Lingo Flamingo courses have this option, but we are working to add more as soon as possible.

Beyond courses, E-Flock allows students, and anyone else, to create or join Groups where you can practice your language skills through conversation and discussion about topics you are interested in. Browse the Groups to find something you’re interested in, or start a new one!

If your course is available on the portal, your tutor will let you know.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • I bought my place on lingoflamingo.co.uk but I can’t find my course.

At regular intervals E-Flock checks to see if any courses you purchased from Lingo Flamingo are available on the site. If they are, you should be enrolled automatically and your courses will appear on your Dashboard.

If you can’t see your course on your Dashboard:

    • Check that the email you are registered with on E-Flock is the same you used to purchase your course on Lingo Flamingo. You can always change your email address on E-Flock by going to My Profile > Edit.
    • Click the Refresh My Courses button on your Dashboard.

If it still doesn’t appear, you can Report an Issue. Choose the Learning category and tell us which course you would expect to be enrolled on. Someone from the Lingo team will enroll you. When you are enrolled you should receive an email from E-Flock.

  • I bought a place on the course for myself and someone else, but they haven’t been enrolled on the Course.

When enrolling people on courses, E-Flock will use the email address used to purchase the course on Lingo Flamingo to find the right student. This obviously won’t work if you bought more than one place. In this case, message the tutor for your course and ask them to add the other person(s).

To do this: go to the course page and click Message Tutor.

  • I can see my course, but where are all the lessons?

Check the top of the screen for a coloured strip with a message on it. This should let you know when the course is starting, if it has ended or if it is closed. Before the course has started, you will be able to view a summary of the course, but no lessons. These will appear on the start date of the course. If the course is closed, you will no longer be able to access the lessons. Each course closes 10 weeks after the end date of the course. If there is no strip at the top of the page and you think your course has started, please Report an Issue and describe which course it is and what is happening. We will try to resolve your issue ASAP.

  • The lessons aren’t working properly. It looks all weird.

We’ve designed E-Flock to be as accessible as possible for different operating systems and web browsers. However, we aren’t confident about the security and capability of some older or less used browsers, such as Internet Explorer. Therefore, there are some things that just will not work on these browsers. We recommend using modern web browsers such as: Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome, Safari or Firefox. If you are using one of our recommended browsers and it still isn’t working as you’d expect, please Report an Issue, choose the Technical category and explain which lesson or exercise is not working properly and what the issue is. It would be helpful to note which browser and device you are using.

  • How do I join a course?

If you have purchased a course through Lingo Flamingo you should sign up to E-Flock. When you login you should be enrolled automatically. If not, see the answer to I bought my place on lingoflamingo.co.uk but I can’t find my course above. If you have not purchased your place on a course yet, you need to go to the Lingo Flamingo website to do this.

  • This question needs me to use letters that aren’t on my keyboard

Some exercises on E-Flock are strict about the use of special characters, accents, etc. If you need to use one, look for the Special Characters button.

    Special Characters

Clicking it will open a window with a selection of special characters. Click one to copy it to your clipboard. You can now close this window and paste in the character.

If you cannot see this button, please Report an Issue, and include a link to the exercise you are working on.

  • I want to ask a question about my course, a lesson or an exercise.

If you need to find out something about your course or any aspect of it, you can easily contact the course tutor. Just go to the course page and click Message Tutor. Alternatively, you could always ask your fellow students by using the Chat feature on the course page.

  • I’m expecting an email but it hasn’t arrived.

E-Flock sometimes sends you automated emails about things that are happening on the site. This might be a prompt to confirm your account when you sign up, to help you reset your password, to let you know you have been enrolled on a course, when someone posts in your course Chat, etc, etc.

These emails are sent from no-reply@e-flock.co.uk . Check your Junk mail folder to see if they have been put there by accident. Add no-reply@e-flock.co.uk to your Contacts to prevent this happening in future.

If you have done this and are still not receiving email, then please Report an Issue, choose the Technical category and explain what is happening.

  • I want to change my password.
  • I’ve forgotten my password.

Visit the password reset page and enter your email address. We’ll send you a link to reset your password.

If this doesn’t work or you don’t have access to this email address for some reason, please Report an Issue, choose the Technical category and explain what is happening.
